Nat's Films (4) - Maximising Improvement

As stated in my last post, I have some areas I would like to improve personally to be a better filmmaker. If I want to be a more successful writer in the industry I need to be able to adapt more efficiently to the stated criteria, for my most recent project this was create a three minute film and tell the story visually only (no words), I found this incredibly difficult. I need to learn how to tell a story more efficiently, I think the best way to improve this is just generally keep trying. During this production I sent my Lecturer, friends and family the script for their opinions and this helped a lot. Secondly I am going to take up reading more to understand storytelling on paper a bit better and will also help fine tune my script formatting as I made a few mistakes previously.

Secondly I would love to improve in the editing field too, one of my career goals is to be editing major films at a high level of quality. Therefore I plan to take extra time outside of my studies to practice editing, this means I am going to write more films to make in my spare time. I plan to learn the industry standard ending tools such as 'Premier pro' as best as I can to better my chances of employability. Over the next few months I will create an editing 'show reel' which will be available on my website.

Lastly I will spend some more time on public transport, or generally when I get the chance to read more, both educational and fictional content to broaden my knowledge of writing and I also would like to improve my knowledge as a producer to be able to monetise my skillset.
